My new strapline for Fourteen Candles - Handmade Candles with a Vintage Twist.

Well, alot of people ask what my USP is. What makes me different from other retailers who sell candles? I've always known the answer, but havent actively promoted it.

I make handmade candles using recycled jars, vintage teacups and assorted china and other items I find on my travels, making my candles both unique, vintage and environmentally friendly. Therefore, I have decided my strapline to describe Fourteen Candles in one simple sentence should be.....

Handmade Candles with a Vintage Twist.

I like it, but let me know what you think - quick though, I intend to start using this on everything!

New Year - New post

WOW! It's 2012 and I've realised I havent blogged since last March. Yikes. Please accept my apologies!

So, a new year has begun. The end of last year proved really successful for Fourteen Candles, but there is still an awful long way to go.

My new years resolution is to make my business bigger, better known, improve awareness, grow traffic to my website and ultimately SELL MORE!

Teacup candles were my best seller of 2011, watch out for new patterns this year...

Scentswise, vanilla, sweetpea, gardenia and lavendar all proved very popular. While banana, chocolate, spiced apple, toffee and candyfloss all lagged behind. 2012 will bring new scents, but floral seems the way forward for many. (I personally prefer the yummy scrummy edible choices!).

Expect to see many blogs to follow, as I am getting more organised! Watch this space.....

F is for.....Frustrating Folksy by Fourteen Candles

I'm sorry, but I have to start this post with AAAARRRRRRGGGGHHHH!!!!

I still haven't had a sale on Folksy - despite hundreds of views on each of my items and some people marking my items as favourites.

Starting to feel a bit like: STOPING FAVOURITING MY ITEMS AND BUY SOMETHING!!!

I know that's the wrong attitude to have, and I am really pleased that people like my candles, but I really need a sale to keep positive!

Moan over. Feel much better now!

Until next time :)

Sunday 20 February 2011

Its been a while since my last post...

Ok, I haven't posted a blog since the new year, which is shocking. Since then, loads has happened.

I have had my first sale on my website (www.fourteencandles.com in case you have forgotten!) woohoo! Very please with that!

Also, my facebook followers has risen dramatically - now on 118 and having regular interaction with the fans which is fab.

Another positive is that although I havent sold anything through my Folksy shop, I have at least made loads of contacts and have thoroughly enjoyed being part of Folksy. Just need to get a sale on there now!

Candle making is going well too - I have started using container wax which is amazing and making my candles look much more professional. Really pleased with my work at the moment. Things are looking good. I also have some new scents that are brilliant and very pleased with - Gardenia and Banana. Both truely heavenly.

Thanks for reading my update, I promise I wont leave it so long next time!

A Happy New Year for Fourteen Candles

Happy New Year to you all! Fourteen Candles predicts a very happy new year ahead.
It's day 1 of 2011 and already, we have progress! Today, I have set up a Folksy account, where people can buy my handmade candles!! I'm very excited about this and hope that it will bring some sales!

My new years resolution is to make Fourteen Candles a big success this year - it is my main focus.
I think Folksy is a great step in the right direction to make this new years resolution happen. I have also added the shop to my facebook fan page to encourage fans to shop as it makes it easier for impulse purchases.

Also, my lovely mum bought me the 'How to make Candles and Soaps for Dummies' book for Xmas, which should give me some new ideas for candle making, and also, you never know, I may branch out to soap making too!

I feel really optimistic for the year ahead for Fourteen Candles. 2011 is going to be my year.
